News from 2011 12.19.2011 - The puppies are 6.5 weeks old and will be departing for their new homes in just 2 short weeks. Everyone was microchipped, wormed and vaccinated today. Unfortunately, we lost 3 of our smallest females in the first 36 hours. it was a big litter; that's nature. We are still looking to place our last female, and also a male into a co-ownership home (we just retain some breeding rights with a co-ownership contract). Happy Holidays from Galomy Oak! 11/05/2011 - it's been a big month for us! Yesterday we welcomed our new litter - 7 girls and 4 boys - into the world! This is a huge litter for the breed! As this litter is much larger than anticipated, we now have more openings for reservations. Puppies will be ready to go after Christmas. Also, Asha earned her UKC Championship, as well as placed First in Group in Bel Air, MD! 10/09/2011 - Looking forward to a fun show season and...puppies! Still a little early to be certain, but Anthea is looking quite plump! 09/05/2011 - The B Litter is Officially underway! Anthea and Bongo were bred for the first time yesterday. We expect puppies from this wonderful duo in Early November! Both dogs finished their health exams last week with "perfect" Cerf (eye) results. We are excited!!! There is currently one co-ownership spot for a male puppy remaining on the 2011reservation list. Ideally, this home will be within a day's drive of eastern Virginia. For more information on co-ownership, check out the "Reservations" page, or email: kennel@galomyoak.com We will be maintaining a waiting list for extra puppies (very likely), or in the event that someone cancels a reservation. In order to be placed on this waiting list, you will need to fill out an application Plans for the 2012 litters will be determined later this year, or in early 2012. Be sure to check back! 06/27/2011 - A bittersweet Week. The week began with Sable suffering a horrific, freak accident fracture of her knee and Tibia. After consultation with 2 vets, we decided it would be too risky and painful to attempt to reconstruct the leg. Her joints probably would not have supported bearing weight on 3 legs for any significant amount of time. With heavy hearts and a lot of tears, we made the decision to send Sable over the Rainbow Bridge... The week ended with my first rally trial. I decided to take Anthea, who is generally quite obedient. We qualified on our first leg - and managed to take a first place on our second leg! One more leg, and Anthea will officially (unless someone hops to it, and beats us to it! :) have the first AKC Obedience Title for the Breed in the US. 06/18/2011 - OFA results for Bongo - Hips: Good, Elbows: Normal - It's official...Bongo and Anthea will be parents to the 2011 Winter Litter! Anthea is signed up for our first Rally Obedience Trial On June 25 & 26 - Wish us Luck! 05/21/2011 - Congratulations to Asha on her Group 2 win (Carrianna Glenn) and Group 4 win (Rolando Mata) at the Hampton Roads kennel CLub UKC Dog Show. Asha showed well, even if she was acting like a bratty puppy who only wanted to play with the judge. Looking forward to showing my little girl as she matures! 05/20/2011 - Bongo's PennHip results - Left - 0.21, Right - 0.30, No degenerative Myelopathy. Yay!!! 05/01/11 It's been a big couple of weeks for Bongo! On April 17th, he received his final competition win to become a UKC champion. He also went in for his hip and elbow xrays (PennHip/OFA). We are still awaiting official results, but the examining doctor reviewed the films with me, and said everything looked clean! We are just a hair away from announcing him as the official father to the 2011 B Litter! Asha also attended her first "Puppy Show". Both judges remarked about how nice she was in conformation - unfortunately my exuberant girl wanted to kiss and play with the judges, rather than stacking quietly like the corgi in our group. Oh well - I'll take a super happy and friendly girl any day! 03/11/11Asha z Dubnicanky is our new amazing addition! She is full of spunk, hugely outgoing, and full of the beautiful qualities of her Slovakian parents. I expect big things from this girl in the working and conformation ring! 1/11/11 - Galomy Oak will be introducing our newest addition on January 13th! Asha z Dubnicanky will be arriving from Slovakia! This little girl has it all. She brings a highly unique, genetically diverse solid Slovakian pedigree that will complement that of many males. Her father is Carr Maly Bysterec, producer of the 2009 World Champion, as well as father to several working dogs, and always good hips and elbows. Her mother is Hermiona Oskar Dor, an elegant, feminine bitch from the kennel of the highly respected breed judge, Oskar Dora. Asha is so beautiful...she will be such a pleasure to show. Thank you Palo and Alena for this amazing opportunity! z Dubnicanky Kennel, Slovakia |
